# The Office Lines

The Office Lines is a fast, client-side search engine for dialogue from all 9 seasons of The Office. It uses an inverted index for instant keyword matching.

## How to Search

Construct a search URL: `https://theofficelines.com/?q={search terms}`

Examples:

### Search Syntax

- **Keywords**: `oaky afterbirth` finds quotes containing both words (AND logic)
- **Exact phrases**: `"that's what she said"` (wrap in double quotes) finds the exact phrase
- **Mixed**: `dwight "bears beets"` finds quotes with "dwight" AND the exact phrase "bears beets"
- **Stop words**: Common words like "the", "a", "in", "my" are ignored automatically

### Tips for LLMs

When a user describes a scene vaguely, extract the most distinctive keywords from their description and construct a search URL. For example:
- User says: "that episode where Michael has a dinner party and says something about wine" -> search `oaky afterbirth` or `dinner party wine`
- User says: "Dwight's fire safety speech" -> search `fire safety dwight`
- User says: "bears beets battlestar galactica" -> search `bears beets battlestar`

The search is keyword-based, not semantic. Use specific, memorable words from the quote rather than general descriptions.

- **Characters**: All speaking characters across all episodes
- **Fields per quote**: Character name, dialogue line, season, episode number, episode title
